Norway Sea Eagle and sea bird photo holidays Full Details:
The Photographic trip of a Lifetime!! A Photo Tour to Norway to Photograph White tailed Eagles and other seabirds with Awards winning wildlife Photographer Mike Brown in July 2012
A trip to the fjords of Norway to photograph the amazing White-tailed Sea Eagle. The trips are for 5 nights and 4 days, set in the spectacular landscape of the Flatanger region of Norway. Just below the Arctic Circle, this is a most beautiful area of mountains and fjords which is home to the world’s largest population of these fantastic birds.
With two boat trips each day with local guide Ole Martin Dahle, we will be photographing the eagles taking fish from the water. Ole Martin has massive experience with the eagles and has been taking photographers out to photograph these birds for a number of years now.
This trip will offer photographers the best chance to photograph a truly amazing bird anywhere in the world. Mike will be with you at all times and will assist you as much as you need with your photography and photographic technique. We will also have some interesting photo experiences with the local gull population - flight shots, "Black Light" shots and some slow shutter speed "Artistic " shots When not out in the boat photographing, he will give you instruction in the best Photoshop practices, so you can make the most of your digital images.
On our last trips in 2010 we had a pair of young foxes visiting our lodge every evening!! All the top european nature photographers have been to Flatanger to photograph the eagles there - it is simply the best place to get spectacular images of these amazing birds.
Accommodation and Food:
Your accommodation is a brand new wooden Norwegian lodge overlooking the scenic harbour. Accommodation is in twin rooms with singles available by special arrangement with Mike. Two excellent bathrooms, a fully fitted kitchen, a spacious and comfortable living room with a bookshelf full of books by the best of Europe's wildlife and bird photographers [for extra inspiration if needed]. Wireless internet is available in lodge plus TV and DVD player should we get the time!!
We will eat each evening in the local Zanzibar restaurant and for breakfast and lunch the lodge will be well stocked for us to look after ourselves.
What you get:
Transfers from and to Trondheim airport.
All of your accommodation.
All of your food - Breakfast and lunch are self catering at the lodge but all the food will be provided and dinner is at the local Zanzibar restaurant.
Transport to and from boat trips and to restaurant etc.
Expert guiding by Ole Martin.
Photographic tuition/advice from Mike.
Photoshop tuition/advice from Mike.
What you don't get:
Flights to and from Trondheim are not included in the price.
Travel and holiday insurance. Each participant MUST have their own travel and holiday insurance for this trip. More details on this if you are booking.
Alcohol and drinks at restaurant.
Cameras are not provided although Mike may let you use some of his equipment on the boat trips!
What you need:
A good autofocus camera is recommended with a fast focusing lens in the region of 200mm to 400mm. In my experience a 200mm on a digital body which is not full frame will suffice but a 300mm gives you slightly fuller images. A 500mm F4 is too difficult for the boat work as it is all done hand held and these birds are lightning fast!!
Clothing for boat trips:
Although this is summer and the weather should be warm it might be advisable to bring something warm for the early morning and late evening shoots [early starts and late evenings looking for nice light will be the order of the day]. Also something waterproof, to protect you against possibility of spray or rain [hopefully not!]. However Ole Martin now provides full survival suits to all participants for the boat trips so don't overload yourselves
Cost for these 5 night, 4 day trips is 2,100 euros. See what’s included and excluded above. This is cheaper than 2010!!!
