Irish Landscape Photography
Stunning beauty abounds
in the Irish landscape
For the last few years Mike has been concentrating mainly on building his collection of Landscape images of Ireland and in particular his local area of West Cork. While he will regularly make images of well known scenes and views, he is just as happy [perhaps even more so], leaving the well trodden path in search of hidden gems to record. The sea has been a constant source of inspiration for his photography and features in many of his images. The coastline of West Cork was indeed the source of all the work for his most recent book "Wild Water, Wild Light - Images of the West Cork coastline" which he published in late 2009 to much acclaim. Wherever possible Mike will work when the light and weather combine to show the landscape at its best. Early mornings and the fading light of late evening are his favourite times of day and the movement of the sea will often record as a soft blur due to the lack of light at these times. Whenever he goes out to work, his ultimate goal is to capture the natural, raw beauty of this wonderful place and share it with others through his images.
