WORKSHOPS: Mike runs regular Photographic Workshops in West Cork. Based around Nature and Landscape photography, these workshops are designed for photographers with Digital SLR's who want to get the best from their equipment and learn from Mike's immense experience. They are also relevant to ANY type of photography as Mike tries to give participants all the knowledge they need to make superb images of any subject matter. Workshops are usually run in Spring and Autumn and the groups are kept to maximum of 6 people.

Some comments from previous participants:

"Weekend was excellent, have come away with much more knowledge regarding exposure/lighting etc., also the enthusiasm to get out there and get the shots. Will attend any further courses you might run or trips etc. I will definitely recommend this workshop to others. The focus given to Photoshop was a great idea and will make a huge difference." Mark Tracey, Co Cork

"Great Course, but I'd love you to do a week long one to include hides, techniques and flash with wildlife and setting up remote sensors. It was slightly tiring with the long days between travel and working late, but a "good" tiring. Well done. I enjoyed it." John Griffin, Wicklow

"Thanks for all your practical advice, for a new user of digital, the theory section was invaluable. One has enough information to get started and enough confidence to play around with the additional functions." Ruth Howard, East Cork

"Excellent course Mike, great communication skills and very tuned into people's requirements. Thanks." Kevin Murphy, Co Mayo

TUITION: Mike also does Individual Photographic Tuition for anyone wanting to learn on a One-to-One basis or as a small group of friends or family.

PHOTOTOURS; Mike has now started to lead a small number of Nature Phototours to other countries. With Mike on hand at all times, participants can use his knowledge and experience to learn how to get the best from their cameras, while getting some fantastic nature and wildlife images at the same time. Mike can work with each of the participants individually if neccessary to help them obtain a full undertsanding of all their equipment and its capabilities.

The first of these Phototours was in August 2008 to photograph White tailed Eagles [see photos] in the stunning surroundings of the Norwegian fjords. Mike took two groups of 4 people to photograph these fantastic birds . All of the participants [including 2 who had never used an SLR until this trip] got spectacular pictures and their testemonials are below.

If you would like to receive any information on future Phototours please contact us and we will let you know when details of new tours become available.

Comments from Norway Phototour participants:

"I joined Mike on his guided trip to Flatanger in Norway to photograph White-Tailed Sea Eagles in August 2008. It was an extremely rewarding experience. I hoped to get a few keeper shots and between Mike and our guide, Ole-Martin Dahle, I went home with a much larger collection. Mike was more than willing to share his vast experience and knowledge on technique, wildlife and photography in general. It was great to see how he could adapt, e.g. he spent as much time with the less and more experienced photographers and made sure his guidance was appropriate so everyone got something. Would I recommend Mike's courses to anyone? Let's just say I'd like to repeat this trip again! Oh, he's not bad at cooking breakfast for a house full of hungry photographers either!!" Aidan Finn, Kildare

"Mike I have been having a ball making my way slowly through the images. On reflection, one fact stands out about the trip - You undercharged!!! We had the services of two specialist experts, all our food, lodging and boat trips. For Nothing!!! Dick Walsh, Drogheda

"The trip was great, very enjoyable and very well organised and informative and I would highly recommend it to anyone else". Joe Duffy, Mullingar

"Having looked forward to this trip for some time I must say it exceeded my expectations by miles. It truly was one of the most enjoyable experiences I have ever had (I hope to have many more). I was fascinated with the eagles and Ole's skill, knowledge and ability in drawing the eagles so close to allow us to get carried away with our cameras. It seemed like the eagles were Ole's pets. Even the gulls were at his beck and call to perform. I was delighted with the photo's I got and of course I would like to thank Mike for his input in helping me to get them. It was great having someone of his experience to coach us and answer our questions as we went along. I know all the lads felt the same. Put me down for your next trip to wherever. Keep up the good work." Kevin Murphy, East Cork Camera Group

"We thoroughly enjoyed the trip. It was an absolutely fabulous trip; an experience we would only ever have dreamed of..! The location and accommodation, the eagles (and the gulls), the dawns and fabulous dusks, the serenity, beauty and peace of the place combined with the expertise of Ole and Mike and their generosity and help towards two absolute beginners, made it a truly memorable experience...many, many thanks. The trip is an absolute must for all aspiring nature loving photographers! Of course everyone is hugely impressed with our photos and we're worn out praising you! Many thanks again." Anne & John Ryan, Co. Wexford
